June New Music Issue

TCJ 3.5 is out, with 3 full CDs this time around. Almost everything came out within the last two years, and some stuff isn't even out yet (I pre-ordered the new Tilly and the Wall and it already came). The zine itself is 8 pages this time around, and can be found in the archives, linked to the right.

April - May - June Issues

So I forgot to post here when the April issue was released. It can be found via the resources page linked at the right. The key to the crossword puzzle is now available at the same location.

The May issue (TCJ 3.4) will be out shortly and will consist of 2 CDs' worth of music. I'm going to default to having people download them via rapidshare, but I will gmail them if requested.

Lots of new stuff coming out in May and June so we will feature new music (meaning, <2 years old, but usually much newer) in TCJ 3.5. That one will also be more than one CD so rapidshare will again be the distribution method of choice.

P.S. So did you like the crossword? Would you like to see more? Shoot me an email or reply in the comments.

TCJ 3.2 is Available

TCJ 3.2 is complete and has been emailed to subscribers. As usual, it can also be found by clicking the TCJ Zine Archive link found to the right.

The focus of the mix this month was on new music. There is some really good stuff on there, including songs from Ryan Adams, Lightspeed Champion, Tift Merritt, Kathleen Edwards, Radiohead, They Might Be Giants, and many more. There is also a song by Wreckless Eric that is actually 30 years old, but was on the Stranger Than Fiction soundtrack, so I bent the "2 years old or less" rule this time around. The crazy thing is, with so much new music so much more available, I already have enough songs for the next "new music" mix, which isn't scheduled until June. Oy vey.

As usual, if you didn't get the CD, get a gmail acct and email me and we'll get you hooked up.

Enjoy!

TCJ 3.2

The March edition of TallCuppaJoe is almost in the can. The newsletter is essentially complete, I'm just waiting for Kathleen Edwards' album to come out on Tuesday (Mar. 4) to complete the mix. After that it will go to my crack proofreading/editing crew for a layer of polish and be on its way to you.

This mix is of new music, something I do about 4 times a year. This time around I've clustered songs together based on commonalities between the bands, songs, titles, or lyrics. It's not nearly as devoted to connectivity as TCJ 2.1 was, but you'll definitely notice it.

So look for the new issue in your email inbox late next week or early the week after. And buy Tift Merritt's latest, Another Country. It's not a "country" album, and is pretty darn good. I'm including one of hers on this next mix to give you a taste. Good stuff.

TCJ Newsletter

Soon this will be the online home of the TCJ (kinda) monthly newsletter.

In an effort to be more environmentally and financially responsible, most of the distribution of the newsletter will take place electronically. In order to accomplish this, I recommend that you obtain a Gmail or similar type account. Why Gmail? Because they allow attachments up to 20 MB and they provide ~6 GB of free storage. This will allow you to receive the files for the newsletter without crashing your email.

Of course, if you have a slow internet connection, it will still be quicker for me to mail it to you than for you to download.

So stay tuned. More in this space soon.
